In Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205, the basic purpose of the curriculum is to provide a comprehensive learning experience that actively engages and challenges each student to be a continuing learner who makes responsible choices and interacts with society in a constructive manner (6:10 Educational Philosophy and Objectives). The District utilizes a comprehensive curriculum that is aligned with the following (6:40 Curriculum Development):
The District's educational philosophy and goals,
Student needs as identified by research, demographics, and student achievement and other data,
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for students to become life-long learners,
The minimum requirements of State and federal law and regulations for curriculum and graduation requirements, including but not limited to the Illinois Instructional Mandates (2023-24),
The curriculum District-wide and articulated across all grade levels, The Illinois State Learning Standards and District learning standards, and
Any required State or federal student testing.
