Sign up to receive TALK205 Messages

Interested community members are invited to sign up to receive Talk205 messages from the Elmhurst School District 205 Office of Communications and Public Relations. Talk205 is District 205's communication system, powered by SchoolMessenger.

Custodial parents/guardians of District 205 students, as well as District 205 staff are automatically included in messaging (both email and phone calls) sent through this system. Because Talk205 is connected to our Student Information System, parents need do nothing when students move grades or schools. Support the D205 Foundation on Giving Tuesday – December 3, 2019
On tomorrow, December 3rd, we ask you to consider a donation to the D205 Foundation for #GivingTuesday. Here are 3 reasons why a gift to the D205 Foundation is a wise investment:

  1. We are the only Elmhurst charity that supports all public school students at all grade levels. Your donation makes an impact for your neighborhood, your school and your community.
  2. We fund teacher grants at the classroom level. These grants provide teachers with the resources to expand, explore and enhance their instruction for Elmhurst public school students. Your donation helps increase engagement and learning for students throughout the school day.
  3. We flood our schools with resources that go above and beyond the school budget. Although tax dollars fund the majority of our district's programs, the D205 Foundation provides resources for exploring new concepts, piloting new technology, and exploring cutting-edge topics. Your donation helps our district provide rich educational opportunities for all students. Click here to see more.

Growing Our Social-Emotional Toolboxes. Trauma Specialist Visit Lincoln – December 5, 2019

Thursday, December 5, 2019
Trauma Specialist visits Lincoln,
Parent Presentation 6-7pm - RSVP LINK

In an effort to grow our social-emotional toolboxes, licensed clinical social worker, Samantha Brady, will visit Lincoln on December 5, 2019 from 6-7 p.m. to work with parents on strategies for helping students deal with various aspects of trauma in their lives.

The presentation will cover the following topics: what can cause trauma, how it affects the brain of a child, and the behaviors that a child can display due to trauma. Tools for healing trauma, taken from Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), will also be shared. TBRI is a holistic, evidenced based, parenting intervention.

This is an approach to caregiving that is developmentally respectful, responsive to trauma, and attachment-based. These tips are designed to be used with children and youth of all ages and all risk levels. They can be useful within the home and schools and will assist your child in creating healthy relationships.
