SEL at Home

The Elmhurst CUSD 205 learning community recognizes and celebrates partnerships between parents, administrators, teachers, and trusted community agencies. To that end, we provide the resources below for families who choose to promote social-emotional learning outside of school.

Social-Emotional Learning Resources

  • The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL)
District 205’s SEL program is aligned with the evidence-based framework from the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL). CASEL’s framework provides a foundation for cultivating skills and learning environments that advance students’ academic achievement and development.

  • Illinois Social and Emotional Learning Standards
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) adopted the social-emotional learning standards in 2003. They were developed in partnership with Illinois Children’s Mental Health Partnership and CASEL.

  • Parent Tool Kit
CASEL explains the role of families in promoting social-emotional learning and provides tools and resources to support parents and guardians.

  • A Parent’s Resource Guide to Social and Emotional Learning
Edutopia provides a curated list of resources for parents and families relating to fostering social-emotional learning and skill development.
