In May of 2020, the Board of Education (BOE) was presented with the findings of an analysis of the current D205 REACH Program. See that presentation here.
On March 16, 2021, the BOE was presented with the Gifted Program Analysis Reorganization Proposal, which proposes changes to the REACH program. On April 13, 2021 the BOE will be asked to vote to approve this recommendation. Please see the following links for more information:
In District 205, students are identified for gifted services based on a combination of assessments such as MAP performance, ability assessments, and teacher observations. Screening for students who are new to District 205
REACH curriculum focuses on English and Math studies. REACH English focuses on either enrichment, extension of skills or above grade level studies.
