A Message from the Superintendent

A Message from Superintendent Dr. Keisha Campbell

As we look outside today, it is hard to believe that spring break is next week. I hope everyone has a great break and is able to rest and recharge as we gear up to return and end the year strong!

The return from break is also the start of our annual end of the year state assessments, an important tool that is utilized to measure academic growth and progress for students. You can contact your child’s school for their specific testing schedule.

To ensure the best testing experience, we ask families to consider the following tips to ensure students have the best experience.

  • Ensure that your student gets a good night's sleep and eats a nutritious breakfast.
  • Ensure that your student arrives on-time for school each day.
  • And, most importantly, we ask that families to remind students to take their time and do their very best, answering each question.

Parents will receive their child’s results from the testing, which are typically received by the District in the Fall. Thank you for your support as we complete this session of IAR testing.

Tools like this video have been important in increasing communications with the entire District 205 community and we are always looking for ways to continue improving our communications and making sure you are fully engaged and informed about the great work that is happening across our District. So I am excited to share our latest video series with you.

With the ultimate goal of providing additional opportunities to continuously share updates and information with our entire community, our team has created “Hall Pass” - a new video series where I will be interviewing students and staff on various topics. The first video shares an interview with the York Gymnastics team and coach shortly after being named both regional and conference champions.

In the next video, in the series, I had a chance to interview Kate Cortez, Instructional Coach at Edison Elementary School, about her work in the successful implementation of Wit and Wisdom and Fundations at Edison Elementary School. These videos can be watched on the Hall Pass Playlist on the District YouTube Page - @ElmhurstD205

Last, but certainly not least, as we come close to the end of the school year we all start to think about summer and Summer School Registration. This year our team has worked hard to create another exciting summer full of robust programming options for ALL students!

Whether you are looking for courses that will allow your student to prepare for the next year, catch up from last year, or explore some new areas, you are sure to find something for your student. Some of the classes offered encompass math, reading, STEM, athletics, and fine arts. Courses will be focused on relearning, exploration, and acceleration for a diverse array of students.

All Summer Programs are currently scheduled to begin on Monday, June 3, 2024. We invite all families in District 205 to join Us! Scan this QR code to learn more!

Thank you for such an amazing year so far. I wish everyone a restful spring break and want to thank all of our families for your partnership in ensuring student success!

HAPPY SPRING BREAK!
