Words of Wisdom
Daniel Burnham, designer of the Chicago’s Columbian Exposition, proclaimed, “Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir men’s blood and probably will not themselves be realized.” Yes, yes, Plans should be great, but they should be allowed to lead to un-planned Plans -- and futures not now dreamed of. I’m indebted to York High School on so many levels. The lessons I learned as editor-in-chief of the York-Hi served me well at every newspaper I edited, including USA Today. Sprinting for Joe Newton on the York track team made a scholarship and journalism education possible. And most important, I’m still dating Peggy, the young woman I took to the Girls’ Club dance in 1970. We’ve been married for 37 years.
