The York Distinguished Alumni Program (YDAP) serves to recognize and honor alumni who                                               have distinguished themselves through significant and/or extraordinary accomplishments,                                                 service and/or an outstanding contribution to society. Launched in partnership by the                                                       Foundation, the District Communications & Alumni Relations Dept, and York High School in                                                 2013, YDAP has honored twenty-three outstanding individuals to date as Dukes of Distinction.                                         After induction in a public ceremony held at York High School, these alumni spend the                                                     following day in a well orchestrated visit to York interacting with and inspiring students. It is                                             our hope that this program will be the first step to the formation of an Alumni                                                                  Association and a successful alumni mentoring program. This program is almost entirely                                                   privately funded, and can only persist with community support. The newly formed York Community High School Alumni Association (YCHSAA) was created as a vehicle to foster communication and camaraderie among its alumni and to serve and support them, the  school and it’s students. Membership is  free, therefore, donations will be used to cover start-up costs, marketing and events.

York Student Enrichment Team

In an effort to proactively offset the combined effects of the economic environment and fee increases for York students and families, a group of parent volunteers, students, faculty and York Principal Diana Smith formed the York
Student Enrichment Team (YSET).

In today's tough economy, keeping Elmhurst's teens active and involved
is a community commitment.  But, rising school fees for elective classes
(such as art, business, family & consumer sciences, career and
technical education), athletics and music, are preventing equal access to enriching school-based activities Families and students can request financial assistance through a YSET application that is reviewed by York social workers, then blindly presented to a selection committee for funding determination.

York Stadium Lighting Upgrade

Stadium Lighting Upgrade

Clarence D East Stadium Lighting Project Campaign Completed!!

Thanks to the generosity of a private benefactor, a team of community fundraisers and an innovative fundraising model and partnership between the Foundation and stakeholders, the four year Lighting Project Campaign has come to a successful conclusion. State of the art upgraded lighting was installed in  August 2011 to replace the outdated lights from 1986.

A four-year fundraising campaign followed which
allowed the community to support the lighting
upgrade project. The entire cost of the project, just over $121,000, was raised and funded with private dollars.

On behalf of District 205, York High School, the Board of Education and the Foundation Board of Directors, thank you to all those organizations and individuals that donated to this project. A special thanks to the generous benefactor and donor and  the  York Athletic Boosters for their extreme generosity.
