District 205 is committed to maintaining appropriate technology for students and staff. As part of its technology plan, laptops and desktop units that have exceeded four to five years of use are retired from service. These computers are annually offered to the community at a minimal cost through a third-party company called HOBI International, Inc. This online remarketing program affords community members an opportunity to purchase a fully operational computer (XP operating system included; other application software not included) at a reasonable cost, while allowing the District to recapture some of the computers’ residual value.
Beginning on Sunday, August 19, at 12 AM (just past midnight on Saturday) and running through 12 AM on Monday, August 27 (or until all stock is gone) computers will be sold online at the following HOBI website: http://www.hobi.com/elmhurst205. Full details regarding models and prices are listed there. Quantities are limited. To access the online merchandise, customers must click “register” to create an account. Those without access to a computer or the Internet may use a computer at any District 205 school to place an order online during school hours.
