Special Education Late Start Procedures
Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 announced the creation of a late start schedule for all schools effective immediately. Because inclement weather in the early morning can sometimes lead to a decision to close the schools for an entire day, District 205’s new late start schedule provides the flexibility to begin the school day two hours later than normal, to allow time for roads to be cleared and the temperature to rise.
Should the late start schedule be implemented, Special Education Programs will operate as follows:
- Private Day(Outplacement): Transportation will operate on a late start schedule (starting two hours later than usual pickup), if your specific, Private Day facility is in session. If your specific, Private Day facility is closed, that student will not have school. Private Day schools will not penalize students for being late under these conditions.
- Madison Preschool: The a.m. session is cancelled. If Parent Education Session is scheduled that day, it is also cancelled.
- P.M. Preschool will follow the usual schedule.
Students who have full day preschool programming, per their IEP, will start at 12:30. Transportation for full day students arriving at 12:30 will be arranged by the bus company. Pick up times will be relayed via phone that day to parents of full day preschool students.
All support services (speech, OT/PT, Groups) scheduled before delayed start entrance time will be cancelled.
Special Education Staffings, scheduled prior to 10 a.m. will be rescheduled for another day.
