D205 Elmhurst Library Poetry Contest Winners Announced
The Friends of Elmhurst Public Library recently held its 8th Annual Poetry Contest for students in 4th through 12th grades. The contest was open from February 6 through March 17, 2012, during which time students could submit one original piece of poetry. A total of 24 District 205 students were recognized for their poetry submissions.
The winning poets read their poems on April 20 in the large meeting room of the library. The program will be televised and broadcast over Channel 6 during the month of May.
Awards were presented in each of several age groups. The winner in each age group received a $50 City Centre gift certificate. The second place winner in each age group received a $25 City Centre gift certificate. Students who received honorable mentions were recognized at the program. Winning poems are currently on display at the Library.
